Frequently Asked Questions:
About our Park Location and Farm Location!
How will the kids stay warm in the cold months?
We will be moving our bodies ALOT! The kids will keep warm by packing and wearing many layers. We will provide hard shells to go over fleece soft layers to keep your child dry.
We will also have access to heaters and fire pits during the coldest days of the year.
What is the staff to student ratio?
Our max class size is 16 students. We always have at least 3 teachers in the classroom, often with a forth!
How does farm school work with the animal interactions?
We work animal interactions and caring for our animals into our daily routine and curriculum! We can learn so much from our sweet farm friends and feel so grateful to learn with and from them. We have spaces set-up that are not animal accessible, so the children will be able to focus on other things. We are so excited to get to spend our days watching salmon swim upstream, tending our garden, learning about kindness and making friends with the animals on the farm.
There are cows, alpaca, chicken, guinea pigs, bunnies, ducks and sheep at the farm. At Mimsy, we milk goats, walk donkeys, harvest eggs from quails/chickens/ducks, etc. All animals are vaccinated and child-experienced.
Are both sites licensed?
Yes, both programs are licensed by the DYCF and are up to all state standards.
Where do kids nap?
Both the farm and park sites have tents with nap set-ups. They are equipped with sound machines, nap mats, wool blankets and water proof rain protection. Kids stay cozy in the winter with heaters and cool in the summer with shady tent spots.
Does the school provide food? Can I send additional?
We provide snacks and lunches for all students in the program, observing the dietary needs of all students. Families may choose to send supplemental foods or their own home lunch, but we do ask that you do not send any allergens in the classroom.
How will I be communicated with by the school? How can I communicate with other families?
We use Brightwheel to send picture updates and answer any concerns you have via messaging. We also have a monthly newsletter with general information, three parent-teacher conference windows and love to chat at pick-up/drop-off.
We send out a classroom directory at the beginning of the year that you can opt into. We also have a Facebook Community page and offer monthly community events!
